Aisha Jama is a filmmaker based in New York City by way of Ann Arbor, MI. She has always made sense of the world through storytelling and is committed to expanding the visual and auditory power of moving images to contend with, recollect, and reassert the lives and afterlives of marginalized people and communities through both narrative and documentary traditions.
Her micro-short film, Neefso (Breathe), world premiered at the 2020 BlackStar Film Festival. As a producer, her films have screened at renowned festivals including NYFF, DOC NYC, TIFF, Urbanworld, and SIFF. In 2022, she served as a Documentary Feature Co-Chair for the IDA Awards. She is an alumna of the Unlock Her Potential program (2023) and the recipient of the ISF Film Grant (2019) and the Building Bridges Fund (2025).
Aisha is currently developing multiple projects while producing across scripted and nonfiction films. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
