Aisha Jama is a filmmaker based in NYC by way of Ann Arbor, MI. She has always made sense of the world through storytelling and is committed to expanding the visual and sonic power of moving images to contend, recollect, and reassert the lives and afterlives of marginalized people and communities through narrative and documentary traditions. Aisha’s micro-short film, Neefso (Breathe), world premiered at the 2020 BlackStar Film Festival. As a producer, her films have premiered at renowned festivals, including NYFF, DOC NYC, TIFF, UrbanWorld, and SIFF.  Notably, she was an Associate Producer on the Academy Award Shortlisted and Emmy nominated film Stamped from the Beginning. In 2022, she served as a doc feature co-chair for the IDA Awards. She is an alumna of the Unlock Her Potential Program (2023) and is a recipient of the ISF film grant (2019) & Building Bridges Fund (2025). Aisha is currently developing multiple projects while working as a producer in scripted and non-fiction films. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
